$11 Million in New DoD Awards Granted Under Dr. Jason Sperry's LiTES program

Dr. Jason Sperry

The US Department of Defense (DoD) recently funded two new awards to our department totaling $11M as part of the DoD-funded “Linking Investigations Trauma and Emergency Services (LiTES)” network under principal investigator (PI) Jason L. Sperry, MD, MPH and Co-PIs Francis Guyette, MD (Emergency Medicine) and Stephen Wisniewski, PhD (Epidemiology). One award will sustain LiTES core infrastructure systems and ensure the investigators’ continued availability to support ongoing and future LiTES clinical research efforts. The other award will support the project “DSUVIA Early Evaluation of Pain (DEEP) Trial,” a prospective, randomized, interventional trial to examine the effectiveness, safety, and acceptability of the medication DSUVIA® (sufentanil) compared to standard care pain treatment in an emergency department setting in patients following traumatic injury with moderate to severe pain.
