We proudly announce that our Chair, Timothy R. Billiar, MD, has been appointed Associate Senior Vice Chancellor For Clinical Academics, joining University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences leadership. Dr. Billiar has served as the George Vance Foster Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery since 1999 and was named UPMC’s Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer earlier this year. In his new Associate Senior Vice Chancellor role, Dr. Billiar will invest in the academic success of Pitt’s clinical departments and enhance the University’s strong clinical and translational research partnership with UPMC with an eye toward the future of academic medicine. Dr. Billiar also serves as a senior scientific advisor for UPMC Enterprises, UPMC International, and the UPMC Immune Transplant and Therapy Center.
