UPMC and Pitt to Launch Immune Transplant and Therapy Center

The UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh recently announced the establishment of the UPMC Immune Transplant and Therapy Center. This collaboration unites the brightest minds in immunotherapy research in the areas of organ transplantation, cancer, and chronic diseases of aging, including many faculty members in the Department of Surgery.  Immunotherapy is the treatment of a disease by inducing, enhancing, or suppressing an immune response. The new center sets its sights on a new frontier — immune transplantation with the hope that its research will reduce or possibly eliminate the need for anti-rejection medication after a transplant.

A new video from UPMC explains more about the new UPMC Immune Transplant and Therapy Center.
