Why I Chose the University of Pittsburgh

In choosing a residency, I was primarily looking for a place that would help me choose my future specialty in general surgery and help me grow both professionally and personally. At UPMC, we have a breadth of clinical rotations in many, if not all, of the general surgery fields. In addition, these rotations take place at many different locations, allowing for a wide-lens view of many different types of general surgery practices. It was immediately evident to me that the Department of Surgery here at Pitt is collegial and collaborative with enormous opportunities for research, mentorship, and professional development. Also, the city of Pittsburgh is a hidden gem – it’s very livable with all the perks of a city, plus friendly people and great places to call home.

Non-Academic Interests/Accomplishments

I love to bake (anything with chocolate, of course!), read, listen to live music, and explore all the green space that Western Pennsylvania has to offer. You can find me at Schenley or Mellon Park with a cold brew coffee, headphones in my ears, working on my arm-balances (or let’s be honest, my savasana).
